Hands-On Lab

Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation with SAP HANA Vector Engine ⚠️Sign-Up Required⚠️
Tue, March 17
,
10:40 AM
-
12:10 PM

Note: This lab session is BYOD (bring your own device). A limited number of devices may be available to borrow if needed. Power is available at the tables. Please connect to the secure event Wi-Fi and test your browser before the session begins.   This hands-on lab guides attendees through building a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) scenario using SAP HANA Vector Engine to ground generative AI responses in trusted enterprise data. Participants will work through a guided, end-to-end exercise that demonstrates how semantic search and vector-based retrieval improve accuracy, relevance, and explainability for AI-driven applications. By attending, you will learn how to: Prepare and store vector embeddings in SAP HANA Vector Engine. Perform semantic search to retrieve contextually relevant enterprise data. Connect retrieved results to a generative AI workflow using RAG patterns. Evaluate how grounding improves response quality, trust, and usability in business scenarios. This lab emphasizes practical implementation and leaves participants with a working RAG prototype they can adapt to real-world use cases across analytics, operations, and application development.   Capacity is limited to 50 participants. If the lab is full, please join the waitlist. Pre-registered attendees should arrive at least 10 minutes before the session to claim their seat. To ensure an on-time start, any unclaimed seats will be released to waitlisted attendees 5 minutes before the session begins. If you’ve preregistered and later decide not to attend, please remove the session from your agenda in the event app so your spot can be offered to the waitlist. Waitlisted attendees should monitor the event app on the day of the lab and be prepared to proceed to the room quickly if space becomes available. Note: To receive waitlist updates, be sure to enable networking and allow push notifications in the app.
